College classes are really important for learning and academic success. However, students do not learn everything they need to know through classes alone. A well-rounded college education also includes other experiences, including internships, leadership opportunities, and volunteer programs. Often, though, students are left to find these opportunities themselves. NSCS can help with that. Our members have access to a wide variety of scholarship and growth opportunities through internships.

Securing Internships

There is a lot of competition for internships these days, and there are only a limited number of internships available to the general student population. Most students know that internships are important, but they may struggle to find one, let alone qualify for one. NSCS can really help with this. Our members have exclusive access to various internships that aren’t offered to non-members.

Internship Options

There are a few different types of internships available through NSCS. One is our Absolute Internship program. This program places students abroad in cities including Bogota, Hong Kong, Madrid, and Montreal. It is open to students in a range of fields, including Business, Engineering, Fashion, and Marketing. Students in this program not only get the experience of working an internship in their chosen field, but they also get to live abroad for a while. This can be incredibly transformative. Many students have returned home from their Absolute Internship not only with a better resume, but with a much clearer idea of what they want to do with their life.

NSCS partners with more than 700 companies around the world for our Absolute Internship program. Our members all get a discount on their tuition costs, and there are also some scholarships available.

Many of our members have also interned with various political campaigns. This can be an incredibly rewarding and educational experience for students who have a passion for politics, political science, law, and public relations. One member who has participated in political campaign internships is Rachel Layrisson from Florida State University. She had the following to say:

“Because of NSCS, I’ve participated in multiple political campaign internships that would not have been available to me if I had not been a part of this organization.”

We know that the skills Rachel learned in her internship will serve her well as she moves into the workforce. We’re also confident that her internship experience will make her a more competitive candidate, no matter what path she decides to take with her career post-college.

The Benefits of Internships

Participating in an internship gives a student the chance to experience the work world while they are still in school. Internships are usually designed to allow the student to participate in the general workflow of the organization, while also educating them about the field they’re interning in. This can give students a more complete perspective than they get in class alone.

Internships can also open the door to other opportunities. Many of our members have become employed with the companies they interned with post-graduation. There are also scholarship opportunities offered to students who have gone through certain NSCS-sponsored internship programs.

An internship can truly transform a college experience. At NSCS, we are happy to help pair our members with great internships that are in line with their career plans, interests, and goals. These internships serve our students well beyond their college years.
