I. General policy

Data collected by NSCS is used to provide better service to NSCS members and users of NSCS’s web sites. It is NSCS’s policy to collect, store, and use personal information only if submitted by members and users. “Personal information” includes an individual’s name, address, contact numbers, email addresses, and other individualized data. It is different from “aggregate data,” which includes non-individualized information about an overall group, as well as users’ IP addresses, number of hits per page, etc.

II. Use of data collected by NSCS from activity on its sites

In order to provide access to certain features of NSCS’s site(s), a cookie is placed on the user’s computer. A cookie cannot read other data from your computer’s hard disk. It does not disseminate information about users over the Internet. NSCS does not allow third parties to set cookies from NSCS’s sites; cookies set by NSCS are used only to pass information from the user to and among NSCS’s web servers. Most web browsers accept cookies automatically, but you can set your browser options to block cookies if you prefer. If the user declines attachment of a cookie, the user may not have access to the full benefits of NSCS’s web site(s).

General users

NSCS does not collect any personal information from users browsing its web sites. Users to the public areas of NSCS’s web sites browse anonymously. Only aggregate data, such as IP addresses and the number of hits per page, are collected; these data do not provide any personally identifying information and are only used for internal analysis of web site usage and traffic.

If you click through to the members section to gain access to NSCS’s members-only resources, you are opting in to all the communications noted above.

Thereafter, you may be asked to log in using some limited information such as username or email address and password or member number. When members log in, NSCS’s system will set a cookie in order to provide access to members-only information.
