Opportunities

NSCS offers 26 different national scholarship opportunities throughout the spring, summer, and fall, and each chapter also offers additional opportunities. NSCS also offers exclusive opportunities through our study abroad and internship partners, including Semester at Sea, International Scholar Laureate Program (ISLP), and Absolute Internship. NSCS has scholarships available for our online, community college, and alumni members, and international students are eligible to apply as well.

Qualifications

NSCS scholarships are member-exclusive, merit-based awards. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA to be considered. Scholarship recipients are selected based on their commitment to academics, leadership, and service. Our scholarships are not limited to any specific field or career objective and may be used to pursue any academic discipline.

NSCS Scholarships & Awards

Scholarship for Women in Business sponsored by GEICO

GEICO understands the importance of a diverse workforce in all industries including Business. With these scholarships, NSCS and GEICO will award (3) women Business majors with $2,500 scholarships.

NSCS First Generation Scholarship sponsored by Gallagher Affinity

NSCS is committed to supporting First Generation college students on their journey to be the first in the family to complete a college degree.

With Gallagher Affinity’s generous support, NSCS will award (4) $2,500 scholarships to our First Gen students. In addition to the financial support, NSCS will also provide guidance through our NSCS Peer Mentoring Program. We will pair our awardees with alumni members (former first-generation students who previously received a First Gen scholarship) to serve as a resource and offer support.

3M Women in STEM Scholarship

NSCS is pleased to announce a new partnership with 3M to offer scholarships to studednts in a STEM major. Only 15% of scientists and engineers are women, and only 20% are Black, Latinx, or Native-American. We hope the scholarship program will bring awareness to STEM and support our women members in science, technology, engineering and math majors.

NSCS and 3M will be awarding (3) $2,500 scholarships.

Scholarship for LGBTQ Students in Business sponsored by GEICO

GEICO understands the importance of a diverse workforce in all industries including Business. With these scholarships, NSCS and GEICO will award (3) LGBTQ Business students with $2,500 scholarships.

AAPI Student of the Year Award sponsored by GEICO

GEICO wants to recognize the incredible leadership of our members, who are using their talents to make a change on their campus or in their community. NSCS and GEICO will award (1) outstanding student a $10,000 scholarship.

NSCS Non-Traditional Scholar Award

Non-traditional students often encounter work and family obligations that can interfere with their education. NSCS will award (2) $1,000 scholarships to members that have excelled academically despite these obstacle.

Scholarship for Minority Students in STEM sponsored by GEICO

GEICO understands the importance of a diverse workforce in all industries—including STEM.    With these scholarships, NSCS and GEICO will award (3) minority students with $2,500 scholarships.

HBCU Student of the Year: Changemaker Award sponsored by GEICO

GEICO wants to recognize the incredible leadership of our members, who are using their talents to make a change on their campus or in their community.  NSCS and GEICO will award (1) outstanding student a $10,000 scholarship.

LatinX Student of the Year: Changemaker Award sponsored by GEICO

Semester at Sea Spring Award

For over 50 years, the Institute for Shipboard Education (ISE) has offered students a unique view of the world aboard a floating university. This is a once in a lifetime educational opportunity where you will develop an appreciation of cultural diversity. NSCS is proud to partner with ISE to offer $80,000 in scholarships throughout the year.

For the Spring Semester Voyage, two (2) NSCS members will be awarded a $10,000 scholarship and four (4) NSCS members will be awarded a $5,000 towards their Semester at Sea tuition.

Induction Recognition Award-Fall

In our continuous commitment to reward students who exemplify leadership and excellence through their academic achievement, The National Society of Collegiate Scholars is proud to offer the Induction Recognition Award for new NSCS members who are planning to be active participants in their chapters.

Students will answer questions describing how their NSCS chapter can be more effective on campus, and help contribute to the college experience of NSCS members.

You must attend your Induction Ceremony to be eligible to apply for this award. NSCS will award ten (10) $500 scholarships to selected members.

Scholar Abroad Spring Scholarship

Studying abroad has become more than just a way to learn a language. Modern studies suggest college students need more international and cultural knowledge to successfully adapt to society post-college: having an international background is an important tool socially, professionally and educationally. NSCS offers scholarship funding to help expand our members’ horizons.

One (1) $2,500 scholarship is awarded to a member studying abroad during the spring semester or summer.

Inspire Integrity Award

The National Society of Collegiate Scholars’ Inspire Integrity Awards are the only national student-nominated faculty and administration awards program. These awards are presented to full-time university faculty and administration who have, through their lessons and actions, made a significant impact on the lives of their students and instilled a high degree of personal and academic integrity. If your nominee is selected, you will receive a scholarship as well.

Make a difference on your campus by nominating a faculty or administration member who has inspired integrity in you and your classmates!

NSCS will award two (2) $1,000 scholarships to selected members.

NSCS Grad School Award (Alumni Scholarship)

Alumni Eligible

NSCS will be awarding five (5) $2,500 Graduate School Scholarships to deserving, talented, and motivated NSCS members who have been accepted into a graduate program or are already in a graduate studies program. Graduate studies include programs awarding masters, doctoral, and professional level degrees pursued after completing an undergraduate program.

NSCS New Member Award

Each year NSCS awards $500 scholarships to 50 outstanding new members across the country to help defray the cost of tuition. Scholarship recipients are selected based on how engaged they are as a new member!  Applicants must be a new member of NSCS (joined after 8/31 of the current year) and engaged (registered on NSCS Scholar Central, the member portal)!

Online Scholar Award

Each year, NSCS awards (5) $1,000 scholarships to outstanding NSCS members who attend one of our online universities. Applicants are selected based on how they show commitment and passion to leadership, academic excellence and community involvement.

First in the Family Scholarship - Spring Scholarship-sponsored by GEICO

NSCS is committed to supporting you on your journey to be the first in your family to complete your college degree.

NSCS will award outstanding First-Generation students with $2,500 scholarships to help with tuition needs. With GEICO’s generous support, we plan to award 4 additional scholarships this spring!

Summer Internship Award

 In today’s competitive world, an internship is a requirement to secure jobs at the best companies. NSCS will be awarding two (2) $2,500 scholarships to  NSCS members who have secured an internship for the summer.  The award will help to offset expenses incurred during the internship.

Semester at Sea Fall Award

The NSCS Mentorship Award

NSCS members have a passion for education and demonstrate that passion through academic achievement. For some, that passion goes beyond their own collegiate success. NSCS is proud to offer the NSCS Mentorship Award.

Through this scholarship, five (5) NSCS members who strive to educate others will receive a $1,000 scholarship. Members who are education majors, involved in mentoring programs, or coaching youth are encouraged to apply.

We encourage our members to use their talents to affect positive outcomes in the lives of young people and in the field of education.

Summer Scholar Award

The classroom is not your ideal summer destination, but enrolling in summer classes can help you get ahead academically and financially.  NSCS is offering the Summer Scholar Award to assist students with tuition expenses.  Five (5) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded.

Community College Transition Award

NSCS awards $3,000 in scholarships – three (3) awards of $1,000 – to outstanding community college students who are transferring into a 4-year institution.

Jim Duncan Award for Perseverance

A scholarship for a member who has triumphed over adversity, this award is in recognition of James C. Duncan, an NSCS member and former employee.

NSCS will award five (5) $1,000 scholarships to selected studdents.

Professional Development Award for Graduating Scholars

The National Society of Collegiate Scholars created the Class of 2019 Senior Award to congratulate and recognize graduating seniors for their contribution to NSCS. Graduation marks the end of their NSCS membership on campus. However, it also reminds the graduating seniors of the on-going networks and opportunities that NSCS provides as a lifetime member.

NSCS will award (5) $1,000 professional development awards to graduating seniors.

Debt Reduction Award

With two-thirds of college seniors graduating with student loan debt, The National Society of Collegiate Scholars is proud to​ provide four ​(4) $2,500 awards to recent NSCS graduates and alumni who are carrying on the mission of the organization!

3M Future Innovator STEM Scholarship

NSCS is pleased to announce a new partership with 3M to offer scholarships to students in a STEM major. 3M’s mission is to help students take steps toward careers in STEM. We hope the scholarship program will bring awareness to STEM and support our members in science, technology, engineering, and math majors.
NSCS and 3M will be awarding (4) $2,500 scholarships.

Offers scholarship funding to help expand our members’ international and cultural knowledge. One (1) $2,500 scholarship is awarded to a member studying abroad during the fall term.

Active Minds Mental Health Advocate Award

In partnership with Active Minds, NSCS will award (5) $1,000 scholarship to an NSCS member this summer. Active Minds is the nation’s premiere nonprofit organization supporting mental health awareness and education for students. NSCS and Active Minds encourages our applicants to promote mental wellness, combat mental health stigma, and organize mental health programs and advocacy efforts on their campus.

George Washington University and NSCS Transfer Scholarship

George Washington University has partnered with NSCS to provide $20,000 over two years to outstanding community college members who transfer from an NSCS community college to GWU. Members must be accepted and enrolled for fall. Some specific degree programs may not be eligible for this scholarship.
