NSCS is growing. Each year, we add new chapters, and we rely on Chapter Advisors to lay a lot of the groundwork. Every founding chapter advisor does an excellent job of finding members and spreading the word about NSCS and its benefits, but a few go above and beyond. We honor those advisors by presenting several Founding Advisor of the Year Awards. This year, in 2021, we are proud to announce a recipient of that award: Ms. Annette Williams Fields.

Ms. Fields helped found the NSCS chapter at University of Arkansas Pine Bluff beginning in October 2020. During a year when many students were learning remotely and campus guidelines were continually changing, Ms. Fields was able to rise above adversity and help NSCS become an important part of the student experience at UAPB.

Ms. Fields came to NSCS from the UAPB Honors Department, so she already had a lot of experience working with students and helping them excel in scholarship, leadership, and service. Over the past months, she has worked tirelessly alongside Holly Barclay to establish the chapter’s officer board and create opportunities for new NSCS members.

Each of our Chapter Advisors has something new and different to bring to the table. Ms. Fields has a diverse educational and employment background. She holds degrees in Fishing and Fisheries Sciences, and she has worked as a counselor since 2007. We know she will draw on all of these experiences as she advises NSCS members from various backgrounds.

Once again, we are proud to have Annette on-board as a new chapter advisor at University of Arkansas Pine Bluff. She is being presented with a $150 professional stipend and participation in the Leadership Excellence and Advisor Development (LEAD) certification online course. Congratulations on a job well done!
