I had no idea who The National Society For Collegiate Scholars was until I was nominated by a teacher and accepted into it. I come from a low income family that has never had this amazing opportunity to join this community before, so to say I was excited was an understatement. Once I joined it became very obvious just how many people and opportunities awaited me as a member. I am currently a chapter leader seven months later and have been allowed the space and opportunity as a disabled student to connect with so many people and to come out of my comfort zone, something I had been trying to do for years. This community offers so much such as discounts on countless services and opportunities to help you leadership or career skills grow. I have been offered the kindness I never got growing up and am so grateful for the amazing people of this community who treated me with kindness, something society never did.
