NSCS is all about its members and leaders, and we are always excited when new leaders choose to join us. To show our appreciation for new leaders, we present the New Advisor of the Year Award to one Chapter Advisor who we feel goes above and beyond in embodying the NSCS Three Pillars of scholarship, leadership, and service.
This year, we are thrilled to present the New Advisor of the Year Award to Dr. Laura Craig of San Diego State University. Dr. Craig became a Chapter Advisor in August 2020, during a challenging and unprecedented academic year. Immediately, she rose to the occasion, overcoming roadblocks to serve as a resource for NSCS members and officers.
Under Dr. Craig’s advisement, San Diego State’s NSCS chapter began using its funds to recognize the most engaging officers and members. This is one of the many ways in which Dr. Craig has served the chapter and the university well during her first year as an advisor.
Dr. Craig was nominated for this award by Kealani Turingan, who cited her strong leadership and unwavering support and dedication as the reason for nomination. In addition, Ashley Jackson, the Chapter President at San Diego State University, had this to say about Dr. Craig:
“Laura has been a phenomenal addition to the San Diego State University NSCS Chapter. She consistently supports each and every member to be their best and grow in their leadership positions. We would not be the organization we are today without her.”
We could not have said it better ourselves! Congratulations, Laura. You’ve changed lives and helped so many members already. We are proud to have you as a new Chapter Advisor, and we look forward to working with you in the years to come.
