General Scope of Responsibility:

The Public Relations and Communications Specialist will devote approximately 60 percent of the time to brand journalism, communications, media relations, copywriting and copyediting; and 40 percent of the time will be dedicated to public relations and marketing recruitment research, outreach, administration, and project management.

REPORTS TO:  Director of Marketing

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Identify, cultivate and develop a plan (in partnership with the Integrated Marketing Communications Manager) for earned, paid, and owned social media within key markets; execute against plan.
  2. Secure, organize, post, place, layout and send email content.
  3. Review, write, edit and distribute press releases.
  4. Review, write, edit and post to social media in partnership with the Integrated Marketing Communications Manager.
  5. Manage third-party thought leadership development and NSCS’ brand journalism efforts.
  6. Manage all graphics requests, ensuring brand alignment and timely delivery.
  7. Organize external relations regarding conferences, speaking opportunities, and presentations.
  8. Organize outreach to chapter VPs of social media and public relations.
  9. Manage intern projects and assignments.
  10. Monitor, track, and report on results; provides recommendations.
  11. Monitor external media and conversation about NSCS.
  12. Organize, maintain, update, modify, and inform others on the organization’s editorial calendar.
  13. Manage internal client requests.
  14. Research, acquire, collate, and summarize information to support corporate marketing communications and recruitment strategy.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years’ relevant work experience.
  • Superior copyediting and copywriting skills (preferred AP style).
  • Excellent project/issue/campaign management.
  • Experience with earned and paid media, including outreach to reporters.
  • Professional verbal and written management, including demeanor.
  • Demonstrated experience with organizational communications and media micro-campaigns.

Integrated Marketing Communications Manager

General Scope of Responsibility:

The Integrated Marketing Communications Manager manages the day-to-day implementation, execution and measurement of the organization’s strategic marketing to ensure accurate, consistent, and value-based messaging that delivers results.  Specifically, he/she serves as the lead for all brand communications, including brand journalism/content marketing; product marketing and activation (NSCS store and membership); email marketing, testing, creation and deployment; and, social and digital media engagement to support the organization’s core objectives.

Specific Responsibilities:

Email Marketing
1. Manage daily email operations: promotional calendar, system testing and troubleshooting, copywriting, email production, deployment optimization and A/B test emails, and landing pages to maximize conversions.

  1. Develop and maintain KPI reporting to monitor and improve the performance of the email marketing channel.
  2. Create and implement strategies for list growth, increased engagement, and increased ROI.
  3. Develop email marketing strategy with internal stakeholders to identify best approaches to build and nurture our pool of prospective members.
  4. Create segmented, multi-touch communication programs for target audiences to drive requests for information, promote events, encourage campus visits and build engagement.

Brand Journalism/Content Marketing
1. Develop, maintain, deploy and measure against a quarterly content calendar to support the organization’s new Knowledge to Action initiative.
2. Research, identify, test and get feedback on both original and aggregated content that meets the members’ needs.
3. Identify specific media for content deployment; produce from initial concept to final launch.
4. Create, deploy and measure a cohesive marketing 360 strategy that supports the new Knowledge to Action initiative.
5. Grow organization’s content footprint to position the organization as a legitimate thought leader.

Social & Digital Marketing
1. Monitor, post, engage, track and respond to all digital engagement across NSCS’ platforms.
2. Support and grow the CEO’s social media presence and respond on his behalf when necessary.
3. Grow current digital footprint including paid and earned media, and SEO and SEM.
4. Mange, edit, and reconfigure website, blog and portal to meet UX and member needs.
5. Monitor, pull, review, synthesize and make business recommendations from core digital analytics.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience with measurable and tangible results.
  2. Expert knowledge and experience with WordPress, email marketing, analytics and social media software; HubSpot preferred.
  3. Demonstrated understanding and championing of current email marketing best practices, including active list management and database segmentation; skilled in market testing, A/B testing, data analysis and reporting.
  4. Excellent copywriting skills, from crafting clear calls to action to creating compelling stories that bring the brand to life; proven experience managing, writing, editing and deploying content; preferred understanding of active voice and AP style.
  5. Phenomenal project management and analytical skills; ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  6. Campaign-based mindset vs. one-off tactics; keen understanding of the Ps and Cs of marketing.
  7. Experience and comfort with being a “pioneer,” including the use of new technologies/tactics/strategies/programs, etc., as well as pivoting from what has traditionally been done.
  8. Experience managing brand communications with extreme attention to detail.

General Scope of Responsibility
The new Associate Director, Marketing (Direct Response) will be responsible for facilitating the execution of all direct marketing campaigns to include project management, art, approvals, analysis, testing, fulfillment and deployment.  This is a high impact, highly visible and exciting position for someone looking to take an existing program and grow it to new levels.

  • 20% Strategy (in partnership with the director), planning, fiscal, and performance management
  • 80% Execution

Strategy (20%)

  1. Plan, manage, report on and create systems and processes for the new Recruitment 365
  2. Lead performance tracking and key metrics of all marketing campaigns across multiple channels.
  3. Ensure campaigns meet budgetary requirements and effectively monitor and control spending.
  4. Work closely with the director of marketing to keep plans connected to organizational priorities including revenue and expense targets.
  5. Ensure continual innovation in work product – drive improvement and testing for recurring and triggered behavioral campaigns.

Execution (80%)

  1. Lead the development and deployment of all direct marketing materials for recruitment activation – including print, digital and other omni-channel approaches.
  2. Develop segmentation strategy, specific audience selection, and optimal campaign performance.
  3. Identify and manage external service providers and freelance creative talent when appropriate.
  4. Prepare and communicate monthly and quarterly campaign summaries including results, lessons learned, and key performance indicators.
  5. Develop and manage ongoing testing strategy for campaigns, lead sources, messaging, calls to actions, and landing pages.
  6. Project manage to deliver work on time and on budget; hold individual team members and external assets accountable for their pieces of the overarching plan.
  7. Manage adherence to full direct response campaign production schedules; coordinate production calls and meetings that include both internal and external partners; implement copy and design for test packages; manage and communicate strict campaign deadlines; and, ensure adherence to the campaign process flow.
  8. Facilitate execution of all direct marketing campaigns, direct mail copy editing, art, approvals, analysis, and fulfillment.
  9. Manage day-to-day relationships with external vendors to implement multi-channel direct response marketing programs relative to creative development, print production, and data needs.
  10. Ensure brand, standard content, and overall messaging are correct in all new and repeat artwork, campaigns, etc.
  11. Support organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts, and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

Qualifications

  1. 8 + years of direct response marketing experience including campaign development, execution, reporting and analytics, testing and management of all or portions of the process.
  2. Strong project management including forward planning of multiple and simultaneous projects/steps/actions.
  3. Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel; hands on experience with CRMs.
  4. Understanding and experience with marketing automation.
  5. Experience in reporting of key marketing metrics such as cost per lead, lifetime value, conversion cost, etc.
  6. Extreme attention to detail and accuracy required.
  7. Knowledge and experience of test and learn methods for optimizing direct response marketing efforts.
  8. Exceptional interpersonal, writing, organizational, communication and presentation skills.
  9. Experience working on a small and mighty team with initial resource allocations.

The National Society of Collegiate Scholars created the Class of 2018 Senior Award to congratulate and recognize graduating seniors for their contribution to NSCS. Graduation marks the end of their NSCS membership on campus. However, it also reminds the graduating seniors of the on-going networks and opportunities that NSCS provides as a lifetime member.

Hult is known as the global business school for the next generation of leaders.  Their Global One-Year MBA & Masters degree programs allow students to study at up to 3 of their campuses across the globe during the accelerated, one-year graduate program.

The Brandon Huseman Legacy Award for Founding Officers

NSCS is proud to announce the Brandon Huseman Legacy Award for Founding Officers. NSCS will award (2) $2,500 scholarships to founding officers who through hard work, dedication and service have furthered the NSCS mission by starting a chapter at his or her school.

Brandon Huseman embodied everything we strive for at NSCS. He served as an active member of the Purdue University chapter, the National Leadership Council and his community while working very hard to pursue his engineering degree. Brandon left a legacy of service and achievement which motivates us all to do the same as NSCS members.

Amy has created a positive impact on campus life as a collegian and in her professional career; to honor her dedication and passion for higher education NSCS will grant five (5) $1,000 awards to NSCS members who are planning to/or currently pursuing a graduate degree in student affairs.

 

NLC Award

The National Leadership Council (NLC) is a NSCS student advisory board comprised of NSCS members who are chosen based on their dedication, service, and commitment to NSCS. Leadership, academic excellence, and community involvement are other strong traits that each NLC member must exhibit and continue to demonstrate throughout their term.

Each year, the NLC creates a scholarship to honor members who share that same commitment and passion. One $2,000 scholarship and one $1,000 scholarship will be awarded.  Both traditional essay submissions and creative video submissions such as: video narrated PowerPoint, or photo essay formats will be accepted.

Jim Duncan Award for Perseverance

A scholarship for a member who has triumphed over adversity, this award is in recognition of James C. Duncan, an NSCS member and former employee.

 

E-Scholar Award

Each year, NSCS awards two $2,000 scholarships to outstanding NSCS members who attend one of our online universities. Applicants are selected based on how they show commitment and passion to leadership, academic excellence and community involvement.

In our continuous commitment to reward students who exemplify leadership and excellence through their academic achievement, The National Society of Collegiate Scholars is proud to offer the Induction Recognition Award for new NSCS members who are planning to be active participants in their chapters.

Students will answer questions describing how their NSCS chapter can be more effective on campus, and help contribute to the college experience of NSCS members.

The National Society of Collegiate Scholars’ Inspire Integrity Awards are the only national student-nominated faculty and administration awards program. These awards are presented to full-time university faculty and administration who have, through their lessons and actions, made a significant impact on the lives of their students and instilled a high degree of personal and academic integrity. If your nominee is selected, you will receive a scholarship as well.

Semester at Sea Spring Award

For over 50 years, the Institute for Shipboard Education (ISE) has offered students a unique view of the world aboard a floating university. This is a once in a lifetime educational opportunity where you will develop an appreciation of cultural diversity. NSCS is proud to partner with ISE to offer $60,000 in scholarships throughout the year.

For the Spring Semester Voyage, two NSCS members will be awarded a $10,000 scholarship and three NSCS members will be awarded a $5,000 towards their Semester at Sea tuition.
