An Important Message From NSCS

At The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) we believe in no uncertain terms that Black Lives Matter.

As an organization, we condemn acts of violence and racism. We mourn the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and countless other victims of police brutality.

Equally as important, we SEE, we SUPPORT, and we CELEBRATE members of the Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) community and those within our amazing member, alumni, and staff community at NSCS.

Plainly put, this honor society would not be as outstanding as it is without the hard work, dedication, and talent of its members, of whom over 40%  identify as non-white, and chapter leaders, of whom over 55% identify as non-white.

But mere words are not enough. Words must be accompanied by deliberate action to truly affect change. Here is what we are doing at NSCS to address and help combat racism and injustice:

  • Creating new scholarships for BIPOC members. We are actively working with multiple foundations to secure additional scholarship funding and we will keep you posted as these scholarship dollars become available.
  • Bringing you additional content and resources to support our BIPOC members focused on diversity, inclusion, and career/collegiate issues facing diverse populations.
  • Hosting BIPOC guest speakers for our ScholarCAST webinar series and Leadership Summit who represent diversity, can speak firsthand to pertinent issues, and can inform all NSCS members about important issues.
  • Giving YOU the opportunity to submit feedback and suggestions to help us continue to improve our social justice efforts. Send us an email to feedback@nscs.org anytime, we welcome your feedback.

Ultimately, we encourage our members to get involved in any way possible – from voting initiatives to peaceful protests or even just talking with friends and family members. We also hope to be a source of support and empowerment for you as we navigate these difficult issues and times. We envision a brighter future for our members, and we hope to work together in partnership with you to get there.
